Clinton High School Boy's and Girl's Tennis Coach Clovis Simmons was recognized this week by the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association for her tenure at CHS. Simmons was awarded the 20 Year Service Award by the association at their annual meeting.
Simmons led both the boy's and girl's tennis teams to Region championships in 2010. The boy's team finished the season with a 16-2 record before being eliminated in the semi-finals of the state play-offs. The Lady Red Devils were 11-2 with a perfect 10-0 conference record and made it to the Upper-State Championship match.
“I think it's a great honor to work that long with kids,” said CHS Athletic Director Dr. David Barnes. “Hopefully, she'll stay another 20 years.” |
